Grassland & forage crops

Drone surveys and suitable applications, planned around your farm, your forage and the ground beneath it.

Based in Leicestershire, JP Rural Services works across the Midlands and surrounding counties. Projects further afield are welcomed by arrangement.

Support for dairy grassland and silage.

Grazing platforms, silage fields, steep ground and wet or awkward-access areas each need a practical plan. We work closely with the farmer, landowner, farm operator and their agronomist to assess where drone surveying or application could fit the existing grassland programme.

Suitable applications can avoid tractor wheelings across the treated area. Product choice, application rate, timing and operating conditions are agreed before work begins.

Early starts, evening applications and planned night work can help us make the most of suitable application windows, subject to the crop, product, weather and SAS Land Services’ operational requirements. See how we plan work beyond daylight hours ↗

From field assessment to suitable application.

Multispectral grassland surveys

RGB and multispectral imagery highlights differences in vegetation condition and growth. Maps guide field inspections and help prioritise soil sampling; they do not diagnose nutrient deficiencies or measure forage quality on their own.

Granular fertiliser spreading

Broadcast suitable granular fertiliser where site conditions and the nutrient plan support it. Product characteristics, application rate and spread pattern are assessed and calibrated for the job.

Foliar feeds & seaweed products

Discuss suitable foliar nutrition, trace elements and seaweed-based products with your agronomist. Drone suitability, product instructions, water volume and coverage must be confirmed for the proposed application.

Grass and cover-crop seed

Suitable seed broadcasting for agreed areas and crops. Establishment depends on seed-to-soil contact, soil moisture, weather and subsequent management.

Maize & forage crops

Nutrition where access is difficult.

Standing maize can restrict access for conventional machinery. We can assess suitable foliar feeds, seaweed-based products, trace elements and granular applications as part of the crop nutrition plan.

James has practical experience of maize nutrition trials with Hutchinsons. That experience supports discussions about application and trial delivery; any response must be assessed for the particular crop, product and season.

We can support agreed comparison strips, application records and repeat surveys, alongside the farm’s ground measurements and forage analysis.

A shared plan, with results checked on the ground.

Start with your field history, soil tests, forage targets and agronomic advice. We agree the scope of the survey or application, record the work and discuss appropriate follow-up.

Seaweed products and biostimulants are assessed individually. We do not promise a fixed yield increase, a reduction in fertiliser requirement or improved milk production from an application. Small, properly planned trials can help assess whether an approach suits your farm.

Agricultural application work is undertaken through SAS Land Services under its Operational Authorisation, subject to the scope and conditions of that authorisation.
